(Redmond/Family Law) What Happens in Family Law Court...
Written By: Josh Lowell ~ 9/17/2015

Whether you've joined the masses under the Space Needle or gathered with friends and family in your local cul-de-sac, the 4th of July is always full of loud, bright, and potentially dangerous fireworks. If you happen to be in any of Washington's spectacular Superior Courthouses, the date is irrelevant. When it comes to Family Law issues, fireworks are everywhere and can last for several years.

Divorce can be a difficult and emotionally tolling process for anyone. Add children to the mix and a party's stress level will go off like a Roman Candle. Not only do the parents need to explain the situation to their kids, but clients must figure out both the parenting plan and custody arrangements. Add in the confusion of holidays, and poof! Fireworks explode right in the court room. Jerry Springer's got nothing on the Family Law calendar. I have seen excessive drinking, poor decision-making, and irresponsible supervision... all for the right to have custody of children on the 4th of July.

They let the sparks fly, but, what most parents tend to forget, is that there will be many more holidays to spend with the children. The crazyiness of the divorce process is only exacerbated by the emotions of everyone involved. Divorces are unique and may require a special ruling for a special occasion. At Magnuson Lowell, our advice is to treat your divorce like a firework: be cautious and make sure everyone is safe before lighting the fuse. With proper care, everything will go smoothly, but argue about the process and someone might lose a finger!
