Take care of yourself when you are going through divorce
Written By: Josh Lowell ~ 10/25/2017

The divorce process is stressful and difficult to handle even if it is amicable. You have to be able to take care of yourself or you risk suffering from burnout because of the divorce. We are here to help you learn about the options you have and the rights that you need to ensure are respected during the process.

We recently discussed how divorce can impact your credit. Think about what you use your credit for. Now, think about how you would be affected if your credit score takes a hit for the next few years. This might be frightening, but it is a good example of how far reaching the divorce can be.

Right now, you might be tempted to think about how the end of your marriage is going to impact you immediately. This is certainly important but you need to take time to think about the long-term impacts. These can range from impacts on your credit report to having to pay for debts obtained in the marriage to having to part with a closely-held business.

It is imperative that you take time to think about each decision you make. These can be difficult to do, especially when the divorce is contentious. You might be more worried about getting out of the marriage than you are about your future. We are here to help you try to find the balance between the two that will let you move on with the best possible start.

Throughout the divorce, you must make decisions in your best interests. Your ex is also going to focus on self preservation, so don't let him or her walk away with everything while you walk away with nothing.
