Suspected drunk driver slams into a motorcycle, injuring biker
Written By: Josh Lowell ~ 4/28/2017

Motorcycle riders face some very serious risks if they are involved in an accident. One man just found out how very serious these injuries can be. He was in a motorcycle accident in South Seattle and is now facing a difficult recovery.

The motorcyclist was struck by an SUV. Police indicate that there is a chance that the man driving the SUV was impaired at the time of the crash. The motorcyclist was struck as the SUV driver attempted to make a U-turn.

The 80-year-old man who struck the motorcyclist did have a blood test done to determine if he was actually impaired at the time of the crash. He was released pending those results.

A GoFundMe page started by the victim's aunt indicates that he suffered multiple life-threatening injuries in the crash. She notes on that page that he will incur substantial medical costs because of his injuries.

This is a serious example of why people shouldn't drive impaired, as well as why all drivers should make sure that they are aware of motorcycles that are sharing the road with them. There is never any excuse for a motorcyclist to have to cope with life-threatening injuries simply because they chose to go for a ride.

Motorcycle riders who are injured in motorcycle crashes might choose to seek compensation from the driver who strikes them. It is imperative that any biker who is injured explores this option because the cost of medical care for spinal cord injuries, brain injuries and other serious injuries can often be astronomical. Compensation is a way to seek to have these expenses taken care of by the driver who struck you.
